About Samir Saini

An award-winning leader in smart cities and the information technology (IT) sector, Samir Saini ranked among GovTech Magazine’s “Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers” in 2017, received “Alumni of the Year” honors from his Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) alma mater in 2019. NJIT also established an annual scholarship for deserving students in his name. From 2018 to 2019, Samir Saini served as IT Commissioner and Chief Information Officer of the City of New York.

Working out of offices in Brooklyn, Mr. Saini oversaw all IT and Telecommunications services across more than 100 agencies throughout New York City. His purview extended to 911 emergency services, 311 non-emergency reporting, and the official NYC.gov. website. He also established the NotifyNYC government website and mobile application to provide New York City residents with direct and real-time emergency event notifications.

Outside of the professional arena, Samir Saini sits on the NJIT Board of Visitors. His favorite pastimes include reading and playing tennis. He is also an avid outdoors enthusiast who regularly goes hiking and camping.
